Union County Public Schools has announced that five of its schools have been recognized as America's Healthiest Schools for the 2023-2024 school year. The honored institutions include Morganfield Elementary, Sturgis Elementary, Uniontown Elementary, Union County Middle School, and Union County High School. These schools are among 879 nationwide to receive this recognition from the Alliance for a Healthier Generation.
Villa Madonna's Center Building is undergoing significant renovations, with crews actively working to complete the project. The building will accommodate grades K-6 and Villa Madonna Montessori once finished.
Henderson Community College (HCC) has announced Margie McGraw as the recipient of its 2024 Pathfinder of the Year Award. McGraw, who serves as a Computer Programming Teacher and Perkins/Work-Based Learning Coordinator at Union County High School, was recognized for her outstanding contributions to guiding students in their educational and career pursuits.
On August 28, Kentucky's Commissioner of Education, Dr. Robbie Fletcher, visited Union County Public Schools. Dr. Fletcher, who began his role as the chief state school officer and CEO of the Kentucky Department of Education on July 1, is making efforts to personally connect with school systems across the state.

All employees of Union County Public Schools (UCPS) will receive a pay raise for the upcoming school year. The Board of Education approved this measure on Tuesday night with the adoption of the 2024-2025 Salary Schedule. This marks the fifth time in six years that UCPS employees have seen a 2% salary increase, totaling a 10% rise over this period.
Supporters of the Villa Vikings are invited to participate in the annual VMA Athletic Boosters Golf Outing scheduled for Monday, July 29, at Traditions Golf Club in Hebron. The event aims to raise funds for student athletes through various initiatives.
The Class of 2024 is set to embark on their academic journeys at 22 colleges and universities across the United States. All graduates have been accepted into college, with each receiving scholarships. Collectively, the 39 graduates have earned a total of 313 scholarships amounting to $12 million.
The Family Resource and Youth Service Centers (FRYSC) in the school district are set to expand from three to five centers for the 2024-2025 academic year. For the 2022-23 school year, Shirley Mann Elementary School experienced a decrease in enrollment numbers compared to the previous year, with 54 fewer students being enrolled.
The Boys Cross Country team has secured the title of 2024 Regional Champion, while the Girls Cross Country team achieved the status of Regional Runners-up.
