Kentucky education commissioner visits Union County schools

Amanda Davis - Administrative Assistant | Union County Public School

On August 28, Kentucky's Commissioner of Education, Dr. Robbie Fletcher, visited Union County Public Schools. Dr. Fletcher, who began his role as the chief state school officer and CEO of the Kentucky Department of Education on July 1, is making efforts to personally connect with school systems across the state.

During his visit to Union County, Dr. Fletcher toured three schools and interacted with various district team members. At Sturgis Elementary, he engaged with students and staff in classrooms, hallways, the Family Resource Center, and on the playground. At UCHS (Union County High School), he attended a reception for Jayden and Jordyn Raney where he addressed the wrestling team and guests. He expressed gratitude towards Jayden and Jordyn for representing both state and nation "with such great character, pride, and hard work." Lastly, Dr. Fletcher visited UCMS (Union County Middle School), stopping by the library and several classrooms.

Union County Public Schools expressed appreciation for Dr. Fletcher's visit and his support for students, staff, and the community.
