UC Family Resource Centers expand with two new locations

Billy Ervin- Technology | Union County Public School

The Family Resource and Youth Service Centers (FRYSC) in the school district are set to expand from three to five centers for the 2024-2025 academic year. This expansion is made possible by changes in state funding, allowing for a more focused allocation of resources to meet student needs at each school.

Amber Miller and Jennifer Pinkston will continue their roles as FRYSC coordinators at Morganfield Elementary and Union County High School, respectively. Bridgette Willett and Carolyn Wedding, previously program assistants, will now serve as coordinators. Willett will be stationed at Uniontown Elementary, while Wedding will oversee operations at Union County Middle School and Union County Learning Academy. Morgan Duncan joins the team as the new coordinator for Sturgis Elementary and Union County Preschool.

The FRYSC centers aim to eliminate non-academic barriers to learning, thereby promoting academic success among students. The team is already preparing for the upcoming school year with various initiatives.

An upcoming sign-up day is planned for UCPS families to request assistance with shoes, food, dental cleanings, mental health services, school supplies, and more. Further details can be obtained by contacting any of the coordinators or Evan Jackson, the FRYSC District Contact.
