Union County schools approve continued pay raises for all employees

Dr. Tamala Howard Assistant Superintendent of Academic Services | Union County Public School

All employees of Union County Public Schools (UCPS) will receive a pay raise for the upcoming school year. The Board of Education approved this measure on Tuesday night with the adoption of the 2024-2025 Salary Schedule. This marks the fifth time in six years that UCPS employees have seen a 2% salary increase, totaling a 10% rise over this period.

Alongside this year's 2% raise, certified employees will get a guaranteed step increase of at least 1%, based on their years of experience. Teachers will continue to be eligible for the $2,500 Elevated Educator stipend, awarded every five years at milestone service years, and the Veteran Mentor stipend for mentoring new teachers. Classified staff members are also set to receive competitive market pay increases.

The pay raises are facilitated by increased state funding for education and prudent financial management by the district. Superintendent Patricia Sheffer stated, "We have a desire and an ongoing commitment to reward the hard work and dedication of our incredible staff.” She added, “We are thankful to be able to continue our tradition of investing in our employees' futures and the quality of education in Union County."
