Henderson Community College (HCC) has announced Margie McGraw as the recipient of its 2024 Pathfinder of the Year Award. McGraw, who serves as a Computer Programming Teacher and Perkins/Work-Based Learning Coordinator at Union County High School, was recognized for her outstanding contributions to guiding students in their educational and career pursuits.
The Pathfinder Award is an annual recognition given to local teachers or guidance counselors who excel in supporting students with their college-going and career plans. This year, each of the 16 colleges within the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) selected a winner from a pool of 320 nominees. These nominees were put forward by students, faculty, or staff from the colleges.
The selection criteria for the award included encouraging students to attend a KCTCS college, assisting them in identifying career paths and postsecondary options, providing mentorship, and maintaining contact with students.
"We are thrilled to present this year’s Pathfinder Award to Margie McGraw," stated HCC President/CEO Jason Warren. "Margie is a valued partner at Union County High School who is a strong advocate of higher education and a great mentor for students. We appreciate all her efforts to help prepare and equip the next generation of Kentucky’s workforce."
The award was presented by HCC's Dean of Student Affairs & Registrar Chad Phillips along with Coordinator of Student Engagement & Retention Laura Ivy.
