At a recent meeting, the Union County Board of Education accepted the resignation of board member Don Yarber. His departure from the board is effective immediately, with health reasons cited as the cause. Yarber had been serving as the representative for District 3 since January.
Board Chairperson Jennifer Buckman expressed gratitude for Yarber's contributions: “We thank Mr. Yarber for his time and service, and we wish him the best.”
The board plans to fill the District 3 vacancy by appointment and will announce application instructions within 30 days. The appointment is expected to be made within 60 days and will last until November 2026, when a new member will be elected to finish the term ending on January 1, 2029.
Superintendent Dr. Terra Hancock also acknowledged Yarber’s service: “We are grateful to Mr. Yarber for his willingness to serve,” she said. “As we move forward, we remain committed to working together with our Board to build a district where students succeed with confidence, character, and bravery.”
