The City of Union has announced an open position for a Commissioner. The vacancy arises as the city seeks to fill one seat in accordance with Kentucky law. Under KRS 83A.040(5), the city is given a 30-day window from the date of the vacancy to appoint a new commissioner. If no appointment is made within this timeframe, the responsibility falls to the Governor of Kentucky to appoint a replacement.

To qualify for consideration, candidates must meet several criteria: they must be at least 18 years old, be registered voters, and have been residents of the City of Union for the entire term of their appointment.
