Harper was appointed to the commission during the December 16 caucus meeting.
Responding to his appointment, the city said, "Steve’s dedication to our community and commitment to responsible growth and development have been instrumental in shaping Union. His knowledge and passion make him a true asset to this commission, and we’re thrilled to have his continued leadership as we move forward."
According to the commission's mission statement, it aims to serve Boone County's citizens and business community by providing information about planning efforts, maintaining the county's diversity, and planning for future growth and preservation.
Members of the Planning Commission support seven boards, including the Boone County, Florence, Union, and Walton Boards of Adjustment; the Boone County Historic Preservation Review Board; the Boone County Urban Forest Commission; and the Boone County Geographic Information System (GIS) Advisory Board.
